The City Council will deliberate and act on the second and final reading of Ordinance 1956, which amends the Official Zoning Map to rezone property at 1306 Smokehouse Rd. from R-1 to R-2M. A discussion and action will also take place regarding a request for an expenditure from the Tree Mitigation Fund to purchase trees, mulch, fertilizer, and watering bags for the Arbor Day celebration.
The Zoning Board of Adjustments meeting will hold a public hearing to consider a request for relief from the Zoning Ordinance for building types and setback requirements, as defined in the Key Allegro Island Estates Design Code, to replace setbacks in the City of Rockport Code of Ordinances, Sec 118-20. The board will also deliberate and act on the request for relief from the Zoning Ordinance. Several instances of permit denials for new construction on Key Allegro due to setback conflicts are noted, with the current setbacks causing minimal buildable lot areas. The Key Allegro Island Estates Design Code is proposed as a solution due to irregular lot sizes and canal frontage lots.
The Rockport Tree and Landscape Committee will hold a meeting to discuss and act on several items. Key topics include Arbor Day activities and scheduling, a request for an expenditure from the Tree Mitigation Fund for Arbor Day, an ordinance amendment to increase mitigation fees for Century Class and Heritage Class Oak Trees, an ordinance amendment to include land purchase for tree preservation in the Tree Mitigation Fund, credits for trees in easements, and an update on the Tree Mitigation and Preservation Account balance.
