The plan embraces, enhances, and extends learning and teaching to ensure the delivery of the best experience to learners. It focuses on integrating new technologies to shape the future of the institution and deliver meaningful experiences for learners, enhancing programming, and fostering innovation in teaching.

NSERC's Framework on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion aims to strengthen scientific and engineering communities by promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion. It focuses on identifying and mitigating barriers and biases within NSERC's programs and systems. Key actions include implementing gender-based analysis, collecting self-identification data, promoting EDI best practices in selection processes, providing resources to mitigate unconscious bias, encouraging the integration of sex, gender, and diversity considerations in research design, and updating evaluation criteria to recognize EDI as components of research excellence.

The Indigenous Student Success Strategy 2018-2023 focuses on increasing recruitment, retention, graduation rates, and overall success of Indigenous students across all programs. Key goals include ensuring Indigenous students are well-prepared for post-secondary life, helping them thrive, celebrating their success, preparing them for successful careers, and creating inclusive and respectful campuses where they feel a sense of belonging. The strategy aligns with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action and aims to foster good relationships through interconnectedness and respect.
