Key topics included the cost-efficiency, speed of construction, and technical specifications of air-supported domes, including cable systems and mechanical redundancies. The discussion covered strategies for project development, such as phasing construction, incorporating ancillary structures for amenities like check-in desks or food service, and potential funding models including subleasing space to commercial tenants. The committee was encouraged to advance the project by creating a formal site plan and engaging design professionals to determine financial feasibility.

Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting
Key discussions included the presentation of The Mariner project to the Board of Trustees (BOT), resulting in approval for contract negotiations, with specific terms regarding village revenue share (5% of gross receipts) and operational aspects. The commission also addressed the expired contract for the HI Shack, which requires a response to an RFP. Significant focus was placed on the Harbor Island Playground, where a purchase order for new equipment has been issued, and a New York State Parks grant application is being prepared, despite cost overruns for equipment and site preparation like rubber flooring. The update on the Harbor Island Master Plan indicated that vendor selection and contract award are pending further BOT approval. Additionally, updates were provided on park maintenance, storage solutions, camp registration timelines, and the establishment of a non-profit organization to fundraise for the Rushmore Avenue Playground.
