The board meeting included the annual election of officers, where a new chair and vice chair were elected. The meeting also featured a college spotlight presentation from Northwest-Shoals Community College, highlighting record enrollment, growth in athletic programs, and the economic impact of the college in the region. Additionally, a personal testimonial from a graduate and current staff member was shared regarding the positive impact of the institution on first-generation students and the local community.

The meeting included a college spotlight featuring Northeast Alabama Community College, where student representatives shared their experiences. The board approved the 2026 meeting schedule, general and garage liability insurance, and cyber liability insurance. Additionally, the board approved the naming of the business and technology center at Southern Union State Community College as the Gary Fuller Business and Technology Center. The Alabama Community College System institutions for the 2025 2026 ACCS operating budget was also discussed.

The meeting included discussions on the approval of the agenda, instructional and student services facilities, digital information technology, adult education, and workforce development. Also talked about tuition rate adjustments for the entire system. The trustees reviewed action items and discussed the importance of keeping costs manageable for students.

Shelton State Community College's 2019-2024 Strategic Plan focuses on three main goals: Student Success, Strengthening Communities, and Resource Stewardship. Student Success aims to provide quality instruction and educational options across academic, technical, and health services programs, measured by enrollment, progression, completion, and transfer/job placement rates. Strengthening Communities focuses on improving relationships with internal and external constituents through workforce development, community engagement opportunities, and building/retaining a qualified faculty and staff. Resource Stewardship aims to expand and effectively manage resources to maximize mission fulfillment, measured by enrollment, funding sources, financial stability, and technology/facilities efficiency.
