This strategic plan outlines five key goals for San Diego Miramar College. These goals include providing student-centered pathways focused on learning, equity, and success; enhancing the college experience through student engagement and barrier removal; strengthening institutional effectiveness via planning and data-informed decision-making; cultivating relationships to bolster participatory governance and community partnerships; and building an environment that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and social justice.
The meeting included a review of the Campus Allocation Model (CAM) and Budget Allocation Model (BAM) documents used to develop the FY 2025-26 budget. A PowerPoint presentation of the Draft FY 2025-26 Budget was shared for the upcoming Board of Trustees meeting. Updates to the FY 2025-26 Administrative and Governance Handbook for the Budget Planning and Development Council were reviewed. Enrollment updates indicated that the credit colleges have reached 100% of their enrollment targets. The next meeting of the District Strategic Planning Committee was announced.
The resolution addresses the need for facility improvements and affordable education within the San Diego Community College District. It focuses on upgrading classrooms, laboratories, and technology to support workforce training in high-demand industries. The resolution also covers the construction of affordable student housing, infrastructure upgrades for sustainability, and the allocation of bond funds for these projects. It includes provisions for fiscal accountability, such as annual audits and a Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee, and ensures that bond proceeds are used for facilities and not for administrator salaries.
The Student Equity and Achievement Program (SEA Program) plan outlines the district's commitment to assuring student equity and success in educational programs and services. It focuses on providing services to further equality of educational opportunity and academic success, identify and close opportunity gaps, and improve the District's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility to better support student success. The plan includes student responsibilities, SEA Program services such as orientation, assessment, counseling, and follow-up services, as well as exemptions and procedures for addressing violations and appeals. The Student Equity Plan addresses institutional barriers to equity, goals for access, retention, completion, and transfer for historically underrepresented groups, and activities to attain these goals.
The agenda included welcome and introductions, board member comments, a Chancellor's overview, board evaluation and goal-setting, a conversation with the presidents, an AI Literacy Workshop, and district operations. The board also convened in a closed session to confer with a labor negotiator and conduct a public employee performance evaluation for the Chancellor.
