This vision document, titled "From Normal to New Normal," outlines Simmons College of Kentucky's strategic role in developing leaders, generating change agents, and driving community transformation. Key priorities include addressing teacher shortages and increasing minority representation in education, expanding access to higher education through partnerships and scholarships (e.g., data science, Evolv 502 scholarship, Kentucky Lottery), and leveraging its historical legacy as an Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to foster economic development. The overarching vision is to cultivate black talent, promote academic achievement, and create a "new normal" of equity and opportunity within the community and beyond.
The Kentucky State Fair Board responded to images of Nazi merchandise and KKK memorabilia being sold at the Kentucky State Fair. The board proposed to prevent Nazi and white supremacist items from being sold at its state-owned exhibition buildings, similar to a 2015 prohibition on merchandise with the Confederate flag. The board stands united behind this decision.
