The board authorized the executive committee to approve a student transportation contract with Durham School Services. Additionally, the board approved a contract with Kelly Services for substitute teacher staffing and authorized the executive committee to finalize health benefit plan contracts for employees. Contracts with Johnson Controls for preventative maintenance and Mechanical Automated Control Systems, Inc. for building security and access controls were also approved.

The Board of Education convened to review and approve the creation of a new position, specifically the Senior Academic Advisor (Prk-6/RTI). Following the discussion and successful vote, the meeting was adjourned.

The Board approved a resolution for participation in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) for classified employees. Additionally, the Board authorized a modification to Board of Education policy 5.106 and approved the revised municipal schools budget.

The board discussed several items including public concerns regarding student bus transportation, the Director of Schools report covering new hires and enrollment, and approval of an August budget amendment. The board approved contracts for Mastery Connect benchmark testing, Aimsweb Plus renewal, and the purchase of textbooks and digital licenses. Additionally, the board approved contracts with Edgenuity for digital library services and language instruction, as well as a contract for fresh fruit and vegetable procurement. Several board policies were addressed, including the first reading of new policy modifications and the final approval of policies concerning service animals, substitute teachers, and various student conduct and safety regulations.

Key discussion topics included the Director of Schools report regarding data releases, upcoming community events, school events, new hires, and facilities improvements. The board approved a resolution in support of educators, budget amendments for laptop funding, fresh produce programs, and school dishwashers. Additionally, they approved a contract with McCartney Produce for school nutrition, appointed members to the Disciplinary Hearing Authority, and authorized the creation of a Culinary Arts CTE program. The board also addressed curriculum updates for Family Life and modified policy 1.104 regarding memberships.
