This Intermunicipal Development Plan is a joint statutory plan developed by Strathcona County and Beaver County to ensure coordinated land use decisions and collaborative long-range planning within their shared intermunicipal development area. It focuses on conserving natural landscapes, the Beaver Hills Moraine, and environmentally significant areas; balancing agricultural and country residential land uses; maintaining safe and efficient transportation and infrastructure; diversifying the economy with recreation and tourism opportunities; and establishing a framework for responsible intermunicipal coordination and dispute resolution.

This Intermunicipal Development Plan establishes a framework for collaborative and cooperative long-range planning between Strathcona County and Beaver County to coordinate land use decisions and minimize potential conflicts within the designated IDP Area. The plan focuses on maintaining autonomy while ensuring thoughtful consideration of land use, balancing agricultural and residential development, conserving natural landscapes (including the Beaver Hills Moraine), ensuring safe and efficient transportation and infrastructure, fostering economic diversification through recreation and tourism, and implementing responsible intermunicipal coordination and dispute resolution mechanisms.
