Key areas of focus include revitalizing downtown, expanding recreational opportunities, enhancing infrastructure and connectivity, and promoting balanced commercial growth. The plan aims to create a more vibrant and economically stable Fayette for future generations through strategic partnerships, targeted investments, and community engagement, while preserving its small-town character.

The council meeting included updates on the Sanitary Sewer and Drainage Project, Wastewater Plant Project, Temple Avenue Streetscape, and Aquatic Center Project. Ox Bodies, Inc. (TBI) is increasing its production and needs space to store equipment. The council agreed to allow Ox Bodies to use city-owned property and proceed with fencing the property. The police and fire departments presented their reports for May. The council adopted resolutions related to retirees and pensioners. An update was provided on Northwest Alabama Mental Health (NAMH) purchasing property and the need for a water line. The council discussed funding for the Alabama Frog Level Festival 2014 and approved a resolution to contract with Rebasco Decorators to paint the exterior of the former Delta Apparel Building. The council also set a public hearing for July 22, 2014, to address unsafe buildings creating a public nuisance.

The City Council meeting included a presentation by representatives from WLDX Radio regarding changes in the station's management, format, and efforts to revitalize the station through the FCC Revitalization Program. The council discussed a cost of living raise for pensioners and retirees, reviewed the University of Alabama Vitality Index Score for Fayette, received an update on the Cotton Mill property, and reviewed the city clerk's report on sales tax and alcohol tax revenues.

The council meeting addressed several key issues. A parade permit was approved for the Relay for Life event. Updates were provided on the Community Development Corporation's activities, including the restoration of an old hotel and the proposed "Rails to Trails" walking path. Discussions included ordinances to set the mayor's and council members' salaries, with several proposed versions failing to pass. Reports were given on police and fire department activities, municipal court finances, and the financing of a new brush truck. Financial statements for the city and park & recreation were approved, and reports were given on sales tax revenue and a magazine feature on the city.
