The police and fire departments presented their reports for May. The council adopted resolutions related to retirees and pensioners. An update was provided on Northwest Alabama Mental Health (NAMH) purchasing property and the need for a water line. The council discussed funding for the Alabama Frog Level Festival 2014 and approved a resolution to contract with Rebasco Decorators to paint the exterior of the former Delta Apparel Building. The council also set a public hearing for July 22, 2014, to address unsafe buildings creating a public nuisance.
