The Newport School Board voted to place the renewal of the district's Educational Programs and Operations Levy and a Newport High School renovation bond on the ballot. The EP & O levy ensures the continuation of core academic and operational funding, supporting smaller class sizes, school nursing, athletics, gifted programs, safety enhancements, STEAM education, alternative education, activity bussing, and classroom technology. The board reduced the replacement levy rate to an estimated $1.45/$1,000. A bond was also proposed to renovate Newport High School, addressing aged HVAC units, the failing roof, safety and security, and improvements to the library, commons, stage, band areas, career and technical spaces, classrooms, science labs, gym, student health, career guidance, office support spaces, an auxiliary gym, parking lot, ADA pathways, and outdoor amenities.
