The Board discussed safety measures, including the Guardian Plan and the Marshal Plan, hiring of personnel, administrative assignments, and real property. A resolution was adopted to dissolve the PISD Police Department and transition to a School Resource Officer (SRO) arrangement with the City of Palestine Police Department. The board also voted to adopt a resolution authorizing the establishment of a School Marshal program. The meeting included a legislative update on the recent Texas Legislative Session, which approved an $8.5 billion public education funding package. House Bill 1481, restricting cell phone use during the school day, was also discussed. Senate Bill 401, mandating that public schools must allow non-enrolled students to participate in UIL activities unless the school district formally declines participation for non-enrolled students, was reviewed.

The financial report indicated expenditures were as expected, but tax collections were slightly lower. The board approved consent items and policy updates. They also approved term and probationary contract extensions for teachers, Non-Chapter 21 District of Innovation At-Will Teachers, authorized the Superintendent to execute administrative contracts, approved contract extensions for district directors, and approved the hiring of professional personnel. The resignations/retirements were accepted.
