Akiak School School Improvement Plan 2026-2029

This three-year School Improvement Plan for Akiak School aims to empower students and foster their holistic development, grounded in Yup'ik culture. The plan focuses on two primary goals: improving literacy outcomes through a comprehensive schoolwide Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)/Response to Intervention (RTI) framework, and integrating trauma-informed, culturally grounded, hands-on learning within a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. The overarching vision is to cultivate a safe, welcoming, and culturally responsive environment where students develop foundational skills, a deep sense of belonging, and the capacity to thrive academically, socially, and culturally, enabling them to contribute positively to their community and navigate traditional and modern worlds with resilience.
