The commission reviewed an appeal case regarding exterior modifications for a business. A decision was reached to approve the proposed paint color for the exterior brick and hardie board, while the request regarding the trim paint, front doors, and signage was tabled pending the submission of a detailed rendering from the applicant.

The council discussed and adopted an amendment to the city's sales tax ordinance regarding future revenue for education, recreation, and infrastructure. Additionally, a resolution was approved to authorize the mayor to execute an amendment to a funding agreement and a memorandum of understanding with the Alexander City Board of Education to facilitate the construction of a new high school at the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex, including land transfers, infrastructure cooperation, and shared facility usage.

The board discussed a petition for a special exception for a property zoned R-R that was demolished by a tornado. The request sought permission to rebuild the house with smaller front and rear yard setbacks. The board approved the petition to allow a front yard setback of 33' and a rear yard setback of 30' at the specified location.
