This document outlines the district's Comprehensive Evidence-Based Reading Plan, aligning with the strategic plan 'Achieve 2026' and Florida's Formula for Reading Success. The plan focuses on implementing a comprehensive system of reading instruction across all grade levels (PreK-12). Key pillars include establishing literacy leadership, providing extensive professional learning for teachers and coaches on evidence-based reading practices, utilizing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for assessment and differentiated instruction (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 interventions), and fostering family engagement. The plan aims to improve literacy outcomes for all students, including those with disabilities and English language learners, by addressing reading deficiencies and characteristics of dyslexia, and prioritizing highly effective teachers in early grades.

The Marion County Public Schools' Strategic Plan focuses on students as the center of actions and beliefs, ensuring purposeful service to their needs and preparing them for future opportunities and success. It emphasizes student achievement starting from early grades and creating pathways to optimize postsecondary success. The plan aims to foster a safe and positive learning environment, promote collaboration, and optimize resources through operational efficiency and sound fiscal management. The commitment is to elevate the district to perform in the top third of districts in Florida through acceleration, innovation, and elevation.
