The mission of the City of Alton Development Corporation (CADC) is to foster economic growth by creating quality job opportunities, strengthening the local tax base, and supporting both existing and new businesses. CADC is dedicated to advancing Alton's economy through creating more jobs, growing the tax base, diversifying the economy, supporting existing employers, attracting new businesses, encouraging economic diversification and strengthening CADC operations & public engagement.
The mission is to boost job creation and expand the local tax base by supporting existing primary employers and attracting new ones. Key development goals include increasing job availability, maintaining and expanding the tax base, and strengthening the primary industrial and service sectors. The plan focuses on retaining and expanding existing primary employers, attracting new primary employers through external marketing, diversifying and developing primary employer sectors, and ensuring effective administration and public education on economic development issues.
The meeting agenda includes designating Lone Star National Bank as the City's depository, approving Ordinance 2020-15 to fix the tax levy, voting for a candidate for the TML Intergovernmental Risk Pool Board of Trustees, amending the Mortgage and Rental Assistance Program Guidelines, updating the Mayoral Declaration of Local State of Disaster, and discussing the sale of land tracts to the State of Texas for FM 676 roadway improvements. An executive session will address pending litigation with McAllen Public Utilities on wastewater treatment, personnel matters, and real estate related to the land sale.
