Knoxville Historic Zoning Commission Meeting
The commission discussed several items, including staff reports on roofing, signage, and siding replacements at various properties. A primary focus was the request for window replacement at 1318 Armstrong Avenue, where the commission ultimately postponed the item to allow the applicant to provide a sample of the proposed Fibrex material for vetting. Another application for a comprehensive exterior rehabilitation, including a rear dormer addition at 1409 Granger Avenue, was reviewed with recommendations for design modifications.

The board addressed two primary agenda items. First, an appeal for a zoning determination regarding a property being operated as a kennel was denied, as the operation violated the zoning ordinance regarding animal count in the current district. Second, the board reviewed a variance request for a church addition, approving a front setback reduction due to hillside protection constraints but denying a request to increase impervious surface coverage, recommending minor design adjustments to comply with existing ordinances instead.
