The commission reviewed updates to the Tree and Landscape Code, including phases of the Urban Forest Action Plan, preliminary LiDAR data analysis, and canopy goals. Additionally, the commission discussed staff responses to comments regarding the Critical Aquifer Recharge Area sections of the Critical Areas Ordinance update and deliberated on permit thresholds for day care facilities within the 2026 Annual Amendment to the Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Regulatory Code.

The Planning Commission conducted a joint meeting with the Transportation Commission to discuss the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Tacoma Dome Link Extension project. The Commission also reviewed a revised workplan for the moratorium on the nomination and designation of historic districts in response to a Growth Management Hearings Board decision, and received an informational update on the Planning Commission's 6-month outlook.

The Planning Commission discussed the status and implementation of the Proctor Neighborhood Plan and reviewed updates regarding the Home in Tacoma Phase 2, focusing on land use, permit processes, unit lot subdivisions, visitability, and environmental code. The meeting also addressed communications regarding status reports by commissioners and information on upcoming meetings for other planning committees.

The Planning Commission discussed several items, including the proposed Historic District Moratorium, the College Park Historic Special Review District nomination, and the Urban Design Project Review project package. The Commission reviewed the historic district moratorium and set a public hearing date to gather testimony on whether a moratorium on the creation of local historic districts is warranted. Additionally, the Commission conducted an assessment of the re-submitted College Park Historic Special Review District nomination to determine if it should be accepted for further technical review. A public hearing was also held regarding the Urban Design Project Review program, aimed at incorporating design standards into the review process for new development.
