The board also acknowledged the achievements and service of former employees Stanley H. Watson and Betty Holm, with resolutions and moments of silence in their honor. Additionally, the board recognized Dr. Juan Mejia for receiving the Paragon Award.

The meeting included recognition of the absence of the board president, Ron Moon, and prayers for his health and return. Updates were provided on the college's accomplishments in 2020, including maintaining access for students and undergoing a successful reaffirmation visit for accreditation. Priorities for 2021 include strengthening partnerships with school districts and higher education institutions. There was also a discussion of athletic events, with a focus on implementing safety protocols and evaluating the possibility of allowing spectators. Resolutions were presented to honor Bonnie Lee Newman and Emily Craiger, acknowledging their contributions to the college.

The meeting covered the Program and Facility Semiannual Review, where changes to the checklist were discussed. The committee also discussed personnel qualifications and training requirements. Updates were provided regarding USDA notifications and the frequency of IACUC meetings.

The 2020-2026 Strategic Plan for Tyler Junior College (TJC) outlines key priorities to enhance academic quality, student success, and community engagement. The plan focuses on expanding and enhancing academic offerings to meet workforce demands; improving student retention and completion rates through support services; strengthening partnerships with local industries; optimizing resources and infrastructure; fostering an inclusive campus environment; and enhancing campus life and student engagement. TJC aims to be a leading choice for students by providing quality education, affordable tuition, and comprehensive support.
