The City of Tolleson's Road Safety Action Plan is a comprehensive roadmap designed to reduce and ultimately eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries. The plan sets an intermediate goal of reducing fatal and serious injury crashes by 20 percent by 2030, with a long-term vision of achieving zero such incidents by 2050. Key focus areas include implementing a Safety Task Force Committee, engaging the public to foster a culture of safety, embracing the 5 E's of safety (Evaluation, Engineering, Enforcement, Education, & Equity) in all initiatives, engaging police enforcement as a major partner, and formalizing partnerships with external agencies to share resources and develop solutions. The plan outlines specific infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, policy recommendations, and a phased implementation approach (short-term, medium-term, long-term) to enhance road safety for all users.

The general plan for the City of Tolleson focuses on several key themes: city design that balances residential, commercial, and recreational land uses with a safe transportation system; enhancing the quality of life by providing diverse housing options, supporting small businesses, and promoting healthy lifestyles; ensuring sustainability through resource conservation and leadership in environmental quality; and strengthening community services to foster a safe and friendly environment. It also focuses on economic development along the I-10 corridor, enhancing retail services, and improving community infrastructure.

The City of Tolleson's General Plan 2024 aims to guide decision-makers in achieving long and short-range development, environmental, infrastructure, and community goals. Key priorities include healthy communities, walkable land use patterns, and sustainable practices. The plan focuses on balancing residential, commercial, and recreational land uses, ensuring a safe and efficient transportation system, providing quality housing, fostering economic prosperity, conserving natural resources, and promoting a safe and friendly community.

This work study meeting focused on a COVID-19 update provided by the Maricopa County Health Department. The update included an epidemiological curve for Maricopa County, showing case trends and the impact of interventions like mask mandates. Data specific to Tolleson was presented, revealing a higher case rate than the county average and identifying Tolleson as a hotspot. The presentation also addressed concerns about the accuracy of Tolleson's boundaries in data analysis and clarified the methodology used. Public health initiatives, including contact tracing and outbreak monitoring, were discussed, along with plans to provide regular updates to schools and the public on COVID-19 metrics.
