City of Cottonwood Heights Appeals Hearing Officer Meeting
The Appeals Hearing Officer meeting addressed a request for approval to construct an attached rear deck addition at an existing single-family residence. The discussion focused on whether the proposal complies with the city's municipal code regarding non-conforming structures. It was clarified that the request is for an addition to a non-conforming structure, not a variance, and thus subject to specific criteria involving potential impact on the neighborhood. The officer reviewed the staff report, architectural plans, and public comments, ultimately determining that the deck's proposed dimensions and location would not impose an unreasonable burden on neighboring properties and that it adheres to zoning ordinances. The addition was authorized, subject to obtaining necessary building permits and adhering to specified conditions, including the installation of a privacy screen.
