Board meetings and strategic plans from Chris Vangorden's organization
The Board of Trustees held a regular meeting where they discussed various topics. These included efforts to increase water pumping capacity from the Elm Street well, the potential for Pro Housing Certification, updates from sub-committees on speed reduction, parking, noise ordinance, and HONK matters. They also reviewed tax parcels, considered a local law regarding property owner notification for public hearings, and discussed amending zoning laws. The board addressed sewer bills and a possible adjustment to billed gallons, and they entered an executive session to discuss a personnel issue in the Code Enforcement Office.
The Zoning Board meeting included discussions on a property subdivision where a variance was requested for a side setback. The board declared itself the lead agency for SEQRA purposes and scheduled a public hearing for April 21st, 2022.
The Board discussed various topics including sewer billing adjustments for properties outside the Village, updates from sub-committees on peddler's permits, speed reduction, parking, and noise ordinance. The Board also discussed water rates, taxes due on a specific parcel, and an event permit for St. Peter Church. A resolution supporting continued and increased state aid for local governments was approved. The December meeting schedule was adjusted due to the holidays. Public comments were heard regarding speed signs and water/sewer bills. An executive session was held to discuss personnel issues.
The Board discussed several key issues, including setting a public hearing for a noise ordinance, approving a non-union personnel policy, and considering a joint fuel bid with the Town of Liberty. Resolutions were approved for a CDBG application related to water system improvements, designating the Mayor as the certifying officer, and committing to assist low- and moderate-income persons with sewer connections. The board also considered chemical bids for wastewater and water treatment, a banner permit for the Farmers Market, and an event permit for a 5K walk/run. Raises for part-time dispatchers were approved, and the board entered an executive session to discuss employee matters and contract negotiations.
The Zoning Board discussed a request from LE Developers LLC for an area variance to reduce the required number of parking spaces for a retail showroom. The board considered the building's intended use, existing parking conditions, and relevant zoning codes. Concerns were raised regarding the number of parking spaces required by code versus the anticipated needs of the business. The board declared itself Lead Agency and scheduled a public hearing for February 27th.
