The meeting included a public hearing regarding a final plat request for Coulee Region Property Management, which was recommended for approval with conditions. A variance request for a side yard setback at 812 Welshire Drive to allow for an attached two-car garage was approved. Additionally, the commission recommended approval of an administrative subdivision for properties on Backstretch Court and discussed future training opportunities for commission members.

The Planning Commission meeting focused on several key administrative and development tasks. Members elected a new Chair and re-elected a Vice Chair for the upcoming term and participated in a review of their job duties, responsibilities, and code of conduct. Public hearings were held regarding a rezoning application for the Church of the Crucifixion to the Central Business District, a Conditional Use Permit for a childcare facility expansion at the same location, and a preliminary plat application from Coulee Region Property Management to combine multiple parcels. Additionally, the commission reviewed the draft of an Active Transportation Action Plan.

The committee discussed the merger of the Green Step Committee and Natural Resources Advisory Group, upcoming tree steward training, MnDOT landscape partnership projects, and various prairie establishment initiatives. Updates were provided on solar installations on public buildings, the outdoor recreation grant for park improvements, EV charger installation, carbon reduction programs, and multiple habitat restoration projects including trail rerouting and invasive species management. New business included the installation of bluebird houses, the active transportation action plan update, water challenge outreach, various tree planting programs, and naming proposals for a newly acquired park.

The committee discussed the merger of the Green Step Committee and Natural Resources Advisory Group into the new Sustainability and Natural Resources Committee. Key discussion topics included planning for the La Crescent Tree Steward Training, MnDOT landscape partnerships, prairie establishment projects, and trail rerouting in Vetsch Park. Project updates were provided for solar installations on city buildings, outdoor recreation grants, EV charger installations, and various conservation and grant-funded projects including Pine Creek stream restoration and sustainability action plans. Additional business covered the building of bluebird houses by a local school conservation crew, reviews of the Active Transportation Action Plan, boulevard tree planting programs, and potential land acquisition for a new public park.

The commission reviewed updates on the Walnut Street Phase 1 Archaeology Study and the city's Active Transportation Action Plan. Funding and grant statuses for the Root River Trail were discussed, along with progress on the USA Cycling Gravel National Championships subcommittees and the procurement process for a Railroad Crossing Safety Grant. The commission also reviewed the project workplan, including status updates for the Wagon Wheel project, Overlook Plaza, and the Pine Creek Restoration project. Additionally, the commission received updates regarding the incoming City Administrator and the construction progress of a local daycare center.
