The board meeting focused on personnel and administrative approvals. This included appointing a new home ownership leasing agent and accepting the retirement of a long-standing employee. The board awarded four contracts for on-call electrical repair and maintenance services. Additionally, they approved the agency's annual and five-year capital plans for fiscal year 2027 and authorized the 2021 and 2022 actual modernization cost certificates.
The board convened to consider the approval of temporary and permanent easements requested by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. This action is intended to facilitate an intersection improvement project at the intersection of Center Street and Plymouth Street.
This Annual PHA Plan outlines the Brockton Housing Authority's policies, programs, and services for low-income families. Key priorities include a three-part strategy for deconcentration and managing eligibility, selection, and admissions through self-sufficiency efforts, an incentive-based Tenant Selection Policy, and Section 8 participant education. The plan also details new activities such as modernization, demolition and disposition of properties (e.g., Campello High-Rise), designated housing for specific populations, exploring conversion to project-based rental assistance (RAD), expanding police officer occupancy programs, and utilizing project-based vouchers. The plan aims to increase earnings and economic standing of residents, address capital needs, and expand affordable housing opportunities.
