Board meetings and strategic plans from Chelsea Saldivar's organization
The strategic plan for the East Whittier City School District is dedicated to preparing all students for success in high school and beyond. It focuses on developing 21st-century skills, known as 'The 5 Cs': Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Community. Key objectives include providing optimal conditions for learning through safe facilities and innovative programs, delivering a world-class education by enhancing staff capacity and collaborative practices for all student needs, and fostering a supportive atmosphere through student voice and robust community partnerships.
This Comprehensive School Safety Plan for Ceres Elementary outlines a systematic process to review and update campus safety, focusing on two data-driven goals. The first goal addresses the social climate by preventing violence, building student resiliency, and fostering a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment through programs like PBIS-SOAR and Social-Emotional Learning. The second goal concentrates on enhancing the physical environment by ensuring a closed campus, providing organized student drop-off/supervision services, and conducting monthly emergency preparedness drills. The plan aims to improve the overall safety of students, staff, and visitors.
The East Whittier City School District is committed to preparing students as 21st-century citizens by focusing on five essential skills: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Community. The overarching goal is to ensure all students are prepared for success in high school and beyond. The district's strategic direction is structured around three primary goal areas: establishing optimal Conditions of Learning through safe facilities, technological innovation, and diverse program offerings; fostering Student Achievement by delivering a world-class education that enhances staff capacity and caters to the needs of all students; and cultivating Engagement by creating a welcoming environment, amplifying student voices, and strengthening partnerships with staff and the community.
The Board adopted Map 111101 and recommended it to the Los Angeles County Committee on School District Organization to establish trustee areas for a by-trustee area election process. Additionally, the Board adopted a proposed sequencing plan for the election areas.
The board meeting focused on student recognition, including the Pledge of Allegiance led by elementary students and the honoring of Classified and Certificated Employees of the Year. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the retiree recognition ceremony, celebrating the long-standing service and contributions of several retiring staff members across the district. Additionally, the district introduced and promoted its new mobile application for improved parent and student communication.
