The meeting included a segment for correspondence and recognition, expressing gratitude for a successful V Day celebration involving FCS classes, student council, National Honor Society, office staff, custodial group, and administration. Congratulations were extended to the FFA parliamentary procedure team for earning a silver emblem nationally, and to a student selected to sing the national anthem at the 2024 NSAA State boys soccer championship. Following the public forum guidelines reading, elementary staff presented concerns regarding proposed changes impacting instructional settings, transportation, and classroom size equity, emphasizing the need for staff input before decisions are finalized. Administrative reports covered updates on committee meetings, the NASB state conference, a meeting with the Raven Central Education Foundation board to discuss its mission, and the results of a school configuration survey, noting internal stakeholders favored greater centralization but showing a split on 6th-grade location. The superintendent recommended against moving 6th grade based on a lack of evident benefit and discussed implications of moving Pre-K, suggesting a focus on developing a 5-6 year plan that might involve adding space at the junior senior campus and moving toward 6-8 grade programming. A presentation was given by 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade ELA teachers detailing their adoption of a new curriculum, highlighting scaffolding, depth of knowledge, increased writing frequency, and active engagement in topics like Greek mythology and the South Sudan War.
