City Council of the City of Bessemer Regular Session
The council conducted hearings regarding several weed nuisance reports and established a future hearing date for additional property violations. Resolutions were adopted to appropriate funds for non-profit organizations, including the American Red Cross and Nurturing Golden Hearts, Inc., and to allocate discretionary funds to the Bessemer Housing Authority for the Kate Waller community. The council also authorized competitive bidding processes for the purchase of a new fire truck and two fire apparatus pumpers, while expressing support for the Black Cherry Tree Project's memorial initiative at DeBardeleben Park. Additionally, the city attorney was authorized to pursue legal action against fire truck manufacturers regarding potential antitrust claims.
