This document outlines the strategic plan for Taylor Independent School District, with an overarching goal of intentionally empowering the whole child. The plan serves as a roadmap for achieving this vision.
The Board of Trustees held a regular meeting that included a public hearing for an overview of the School Financial Rating System of Texas (School FIRST) for Fiscal Year 2024. The meeting involved recognitions for exceptional workplace climate, excellence in student outcomes, and strong partnerships, including a TEE Foundation Grant Presentation. Reports were presented to the Board of Trustees, covering topics such as a preview of universal screener and beginning of year data, an emergent bilingual program update, professional learning community initiatives, district and campus improvement plans, and positive behavioral interventions and supports. The board also discussed personnel items, the calendar, and suggestions for future agenda items, including Veteran's Day Events. The Board of Trustees recessed into Closed Session to discuss items relating to personnel or deliberations about real property.
The committee convened to discuss updates and planning for the 2025-2026 school year. Amendments to the District of Innovation Plan were reviewed and supported, including the addition of the Grievance Policy (SB 12) and the Local School Library Council (SB 13), along with the removal of Campus Behavior Coordinator (HB 6) and Attendance for Credit provisions. The District Improvement Plan was reviewed, celebrating achievements from the 2024-2025 school year and outlining goals for 2025-2026, focusing on academic achievement, safety, well-being, morale, recruitment, retention, and strategic facility planning. Campus Improvement Plans were also reviewed to align with district priorities.
The meeting included a public hearing to receive public comment on the budget and proposed tax rate, followed by the Pledge to the American and Texas Flags and recitation of mission, vision, and core belief statements. Reports were presented on the bond update, TEE Foundation update, attendance percentage and plan for 2025-26, and voter-approval tax rate election. The board approved the designation of officer resolution, the resolution certifying the 2025 tax roll, amendment of the 2025-2026 budget, adoption of the ordinance to set the 2025 Taylor ISD tax rate, revision of EFB (LOCAL), annual renewal of the Good Cause Security Resolution, and an order calling a bond election. Additionally, they approved an order to call a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election. The consent agenda included minutes, tax report, monthly financial report, purchasing approval, budget amendment, annual investment report, approval of the 4-H Adjunct Faculty Agreement, approval of Temple College MOUs, T-Tess Appraisal Timeline & Appraisers for 2025-26, and policy updates.
