The agenda includes recognizing August 24th as Officer Henry Franklin Day, discussing Sikeston Airport projects, removing an employee from the Municipal Court bank account, authorizing the purchase of road salt and a patrol vehicle for the Department of Public Safety, and accepting funds from the SFY26 Missouri Blue Shield Award Agreement for the purchase of field operation equipment for the Department of Public Safety. Additionally, the council will enter an executive session to discuss property matters.

The City Council Study Session meeting included a briefing on the drainage issues in the City of Sikeston along with possible solutions. The council expressed their desire to have the Local Vendor Policy updated. Furthermore, the council discussed and approved the award of Bid 26-01 for Mausoleum Roof Repair to Pyramid Roofing.

The agenda included the first reading of a bill calling for a general election, and a resolution for a Land Water Conservation Fund grant application. The council also discussed awarding domestic violence surcharge funding to the House of Refuge for Abused and Battered Women, and awarding a contract for cleaning and event services at various locations to Cotton Pickin' Clean LLC. Further discussions involved amending the city vehicle license tax, personal property taxes, and regulations on commercial motor vehicles. The council also considered a purchase agreement with GovWell for property maintenance software and a contract for engineering services for drainage improvements.

The meeting includes discussions on a request for a conditional use variance for an in-home daycare, approval to proceed with a Wireless USA proposal for antenna/tower work related to 911 merger at Fire Station #1, and resolutions for the surplus of a Kubota tractor and Elgin Broom Sweeper for the Street Department, and a Kubota Tractor for the Parks Department. Also on the agenda is awarding a construction bid for Compress Road Bridge Replacement, a briefing on contracting the county for tax collections, awarding RFP 26-4 for Financing Services, and authorization to purchase a Compact Utility Tractor, Power Rake, and Rotary Tiller for the Parks Department.

The City Council meeting includes a public hearing on the establishment of the 2025 Municipal Tax Levy. Items of business include consideration of an emergency bill establishing the 2025 Tax Levy, a lease-purchase of equipment, approval of a lease for a postage machine, authorization to enter into an agreement for billing and collection of city taxes, authorization to purchase a police responder truck, and appointments to Boards and Commissions.
