Board meetings and strategic plans from Brian J. Reed's organization
This document details Virginia's long-range multimodal transportation plan, specifically focusing on the Corridors of Statewide Significance (CoSS). It defines CoSS as integrated, multimodal networks critical for connecting major activity centers and fostering economic prosperity across the Commonwealth. The plan outlines the genesis of CoSS from the VTrans2025 effort, establishes four identification criteria (multimodal, connectivity, high volume, and function), and provides detailed descriptions of the eleven identified CoSS within Virginia, informing future transportation investments.
This document serves as a vision plan and transportation planning resource for the Mount Rogers region, outlining needs and impacts of the transportation system to identify funding priorities. It establishes regional goals to ensure efficient and safe movement of people and goods, and to improve conditions for economic development and tourism. The plan incorporates common rural long-range goals focused on enhancing network connectivity, promoting safety and security, fostering economic vitality, preserving existing infrastructure, integrating quality of life considerations, and coordinating land use with transportation development across all modes.
This document is the 2023 update to the Mount Rogers Hazard Mitigation Plan, serving as a strategic framework to describe natural hazards, assess their impacts on people and property, and recommend mitigation strategies for the Mount Rogers Planning District. It addresses a range of natural hazards including dam safety, drought, earthquakes, flooding, karst and sinkholes, landslides, severe winter storms, thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, and windstorms. The plan aims to meet Disaster Mitigation Act 2000 requirements, reduce risks, enhance community resilience, ensure eligibility for Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs, and decrease post-disaster funding needs through proactive, pre-disaster actions.
The 2022 Southwest Virginia Regional Wastewater Study comprehensively evaluated existing wastewater systems and unserved areas across the LENOWISCO, Cumberland Plateau, and Mount Rogers planning districts. It identified over $1.67 billion in wastewater infrastructure needs, noting significant issues such as high infiltration and inflow in aging collection systems. The study provides recommendations including modifying funding programs, developing workforce training, promoting regionalization and consolidation of systems, emphasizing managed decentralized solutions, and implementing public and policy maker education initiatives to address the identified infrastructure deficiencies.
The meeting included a public awareness committee report, RSIF grant update, and communications regarding vacant board member terms. The board discussed having alternates appointed for members missing consecutive meetings. There was also a discussion regarding the Needs Assessment Survey and a demonstration of TTD/TTY telephone equipment.
