The council discussed the purpose of the School Health Advisory Council regarding student health and well-being advocacy. Additionally, a report was provided on the delivery of Child Abuse, Family Violence, and Sex Trafficking Awareness programs to middle school students.

The committee discussed recent educational programming conducted for middle school students, focusing on topics such as human trafficking, child abuse, and bullying. The meeting included the introduction of the full-time manager, a review of school lunch and breakfast menus, discussions regarding nutritional education for students, and coordination of the testing calendar. Additionally, the committee addressed facility access for staff and athletic programs.

The meeting began with the introduction of members. The stated purpose of the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is to promote and support the health and well-being of students and the school community by advising on health policies, programs, advocacy, and community engagement. Key discussions included a recommendation to have the Children's Advocacy Center of Lubbock present their Play It Safe Program to secondary campuses for child abuse, family violence, and sex trafficking awareness curriculum, which was subsequently approved. Furthermore, an update was provided regarding Narcan training, noting that over 50 staff members attended a session on January 21st and that Narcan is now included in first aid kits on all travel buses.

This District Improvement Plan outlines Abernathy ISD's strategic goals and performance objectives, aiming for student achievement and post-secondary success by maintaining high district ratings through 2025. Key strategic pillars include enhancing a high-quality curriculum and effective instruction (Goal 1), recruiting and retaining effective teachers (Goal 2), fostering a safe environment with positive school culture and effective communication (Goal 3), and ensuring fiscal integrity and responsible resource management through proactive planning (Goal 4). The plan sets specific targets for academic performance, college, career, and military readiness, and staff proficiency, with some objectives extending through 2026.

The meeting commenced with student recognitions for achievements in 4H Food Challenge, Academic & Character Excellence, and FFA National Champion honors in Agriscience Fair projects. Staff recognitions were extended for exceptional service, dedication in instruction, and outstanding leadership in girls' basketball and volleyball programs. Administrator reports covered key activities across campuses: the High School noted TSI testing, college visits, and TAFF success; the Elementary campus discussed the upcoming Turkey Run, Thanksgiving lunch, and leadership development; and the Middle School detailed student engagement events like Chalk Week, a successful food drive, and grant acquisitions for academic resources. The Athletic Director highlighted representation at the State Cross Country Meet, the volleyball team reaching the playoffs for the first time, and the football team advancing to the playoffs. The IT Director reported on the conclusion of Cybersecurity Awareness Month and the initiation of the E-rate funding process for 2026. The Director of Curriculum & Instruction provided updates on the ESL Program Evaluation and the TIL program implementation. Action items included the approval of the consent agenda, covering minutes and bills payable, and consideration of a resolution for casting votes for the Lubbock Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.
