The committee reviewed health screenings, the status of state reporting, and various training programs such as YES and Vector for drug, alcohol, and safety awareness. Discussions included caffeine awareness for students, upcoming impaired driving assemblies, and progress toward becoming a Project ADAM Heart Safe School. Recommendations were made for the upcoming school year regarding sexual risk avoidance education, CPR certification training, ATV safety training, and steroid use awareness.

The council reviewed the progress of student health screenings and discussed various educational initiatives including 180 Degrees presentations, the Kids Heart Challenge, Stop the Bleed training for secondary students, and upcoming CPR/AED certification for seniors. Plans were established for puberty education for fifth graders and a vaccination clinic for secondary students. The meeting also included discussions on student interaction training with law enforcement and a review of the district wellness plan, which covers policies on physical activity, food rewards, water access, and lunch duration.

Key topics included the presentation of the 2025--2026 Annual Immunization Status Report, confirming all students were in compliance. Staff training on the administration of Glucagon and the use of the LifeVac airway clearance device was reported as ongoing before the spring semester. Counselor updates noted that Abigail's Arms presentations would continue, and fentanyl awareness training mandates under Tucker's Law are being met using Vector Solutions. The council discussed solutions for providing higher-protein snacks and meals compliant with the Texas School Nutrition Policy, suggesting options like Greek yogurt and protein shakes. In the open forum, there were discussions regarding providing drunk driving education, the availability of funding for fentanyl education from Muenster Memorial Hospital, and MISD's continued participation in the Guardian Program along with the logistics of active shooter training.

The meeting included the introduction of new MISD staff members to the council. Future meeting dates were approved, and an open forum discussed participation in a new high-risk asthma clinic from Cook Children's and efforts to provide CPR/Stop the Bleed certifications for all Seniors before graduation.

The council discussed increasing protein intake for athletes while adhering to nutrition guidelines, suggesting high-protein snacks in the field house and locker rooms with PTO and parent support. Updates on the 'Shattered Dreams' presentation were pending. Recommendations for school board educational programs included continuing 180 Degrees for sexual risk avoidance, considering the Forever 15 Project on fentanyl dangers, a new suicide/mental health curriculum, increased drug awareness/mental health signage, and fentanyl education in partnership with Muenster Memorial Hospital. CASA lessons were completed for grades K-2, classroom guidance lessons continued, a puberty/hygiene lesson was planned for 5th graders, and bullying lessons were ongoing in elementary classrooms. STAAR testing was also underway.
