The Commission addressed the resignation of a member, the introduction of new staff, and received a briefing on agriculture land assessment for solar facilities. Public hearings were held to consider and approve amendments to ordinance sections regarding applications and procedures for small and large energy systems. Additionally, the Commission discussed an upcoming planning trip, reviewed the status of the Comprehensive Plan and Economic Strategic Plan, and provided feedback on upcoming items for the Board of Zoning Appeals, including a Verizon Wireless special use permit, a solar facility request, and a Wawa Inc. special use permit application.

The Board of Zoning Appeals considered several Special Use Permit requests, including the construction of additional mini-warehouse units, the reconstruction and enlargement of a non-conforming pump station, and a variance request for front yard setbacks. Additionally, the Board reviewed staff reports regarding permit inspections and discussed outstanding permit conditions for specific properties.

The commission reviewed the treasurer's and director's reports, which included an update on pandemic-related program adjustments, county website upgrades, and a software migration project. Discussions covered the issue of unleashed dogs in parks and the success of the camping season at Natural Chimneys Park. Additionally, plans for installing electricity at Stuart Draft Park to support future family movie nights were introduced.

The commission reviewed several rezoning requests, including a proposal for general business use with residential apartments, a request for a public use overlay to permit a school, and a proposal for townhouses which was denied for lack of compliance with the comprehensive plan. Additionally, the commission approved the renewal of an agricultural and forestal district and a zoning amendment regarding standards for mini-warehouses in general agricultural districts. The meeting concluded with the election of commission officers for the upcoming year and a review of agenda items for the following board of zoning appeals session.
