This plan outlines a comprehensive revitalization strategy for the City of Yorkton's Downtown and West Broadway Corridor. The primary objective is to address blight and economic decline by enhancing the area's character and appeal through a multi-faceted approach. Key focus areas include urban design, pedestrian and vehicular accessibility, economic development, housing, and social activities and events. The plan promotes beautification, heritage and culture, innovative design principles, and commercial investment, with a proposed full realization by 2020.
This long-range Regional Transportation Study, developed collaboratively by the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, the City of Yorkton, and the Rural Municipalities of Wallace and Orkney, establishes a vision for the regional transportation network. The plan outlines a phased approach: short-term development of Grain Millers Drive, intermediate-term construction of regional connectors (East and Southwest Links), and long-term planning for a high-speed freeway around Yorkton, with projections extending to approximately 2040.
