The Information Technology Improvement Plan for the State of Alaska focuses on enhancing administrative productivity and excellence through IT consolidation. The AAPEX (Alaska Administrative Productivity and Excellence) Phase 2 report outlines a plan to improve and consolidate back-office shared services functions within the State of Alaska. The plan focuses on increasing customer satisfaction, achieving process efficiencies, generating cost savings, and addressing staffing challenges through improvements to the State of Alaska Shared Services operational, organizational and financial model. It includes recommendations for governance, finance, and service delivery, covering areas such as debt collection, print services, lease management, travel & expense reimbursement, and accounts payable.

The meeting included a review of ethics cases, including a University of Alaska case that went to Federal Court. Amendments to Personnel Rules were proposed and approved to implement recently passed legislation (HB 417), addressing compensation for deputy heads of principal executive departments and pay increments for longevity in state service. An update was provided on the implementation of salary increases retroactive to July 1, 2007, for various employee units, and the division's work towards implementing recommendations from the Recruitment and Retention Executive Working Group. The status of contract negotiations was also discussed.
