The board reviewed the superintendent's report regarding utility costs, summer school performance, and financial reimbursements. New business items included the selection of OPAA as the food service management company, the establishment of student and adult meal prices, the adoption of meal eligibility criteria, approval of budget amendments, and the fiscal year 2027 budget. Additionally, the board approved fund transfers, scheduled a future building authority meeting, and discussed various student handbooks. During the executive session, the board approved substitute staff lists and appointed several high school and middle school teaching and coaching positions for the upcoming school year.

The Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) for the East Carter County R-II School District aims to provide a safe educational environment that fosters intellectual, physical, social, and career development, preparing students for the 21st century. Developed collaboratively, this plan guides resource allocation, policy development, and instructional programs to raise student achievement.

The meeting included reports on district finances, baseball achievements, and the commencement of summer school. The Board reviewed and approved several MSIP-related plans and program evaluations, including professional development, library policies, and various student and program assessments. New business matters addressed a tax levy informational letter, staff policies regarding campus leave and accrued leave, the selection of an SLP contract provider, and the appointment of coordinators for LEP, ELL, ESOL, and homeless/migrant services. Additionally, the Board approved the hiring of new staff and coaching appointments during the executive session, while also acknowledging a teacher resignation.

The board discussed the superintendent's report covering electricity costs, financial challenges affecting the senior Chromebook auction, and graduation planning. Decisions included approving the re-run of a ballot initiative, setting a future policy meeting date, and reviewing school trips and service contracts. Reports were shared highlighting student achievements in art and music competitions as well as successful outcomes for the Special Olympics. During the executive session, the board handled personnel matters, including volunteer approvals, staff resignations, and the hiring of teachers and coaches for the upcoming school year.
