The Alabama Forest Action Plan identifies priority forest areas, threats, and strategies for their mitigation, and serves as a mechanism for securing federal funding. It addresses seven key threats to Alabama's forest resource, including fragmentation, invasive species, and adverse weather events, and outlines long-term strategies for their sustainability. Additionally, the plan recognizes five multi-state regional priorities, such as combating cogongrass, restoring longleaf pine, improving water quality, and managing urban mega-regions, for collaborative efforts with neighboring states. The overall vision is to sustain Alabama's forest resources and enhance ecosystem services.
