The City of San Juan's Parks and Recreation Plan, adopted in 2019, serves as a guide for the continued development, enhancement, expansion, and maintenance of the city's park and recreation system. It outlines goals, actions, facility inventories, needs assessments, and park standards, with implementation priorities spanning a ten to fifteen-year period. The plan aims to foster a healthy and happy community by continually improving park and recreational facilities, integrating public input and oversight from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee.

The 2019 Comprehensive Plan, titled "Envisioning Our Future," provides a framework with a vision, goals, actions, policies, and maps to guide future development and redevelopment within the City of San Juan, Texas. The plan aims to enhance the quality of life for citizens, businesses, and visitors by promoting good governance, innovation, efficiency, transparency, public involvement, and public health, safety, and welfare. Key strategic areas include land use, transportation, economic development, and related urban planning needs.

The Commission Meeting included a proclamation designating June 2026 as National Cancer Survivor Month. Additionally, the Housing Authority presented on the Disaster Recovery Reallocation Program and the upcoming development of the San Juan Cottages. The commission discussed department reports, specifically focusing on the management of weedy lots and the potential to involve a tax firm in the enforcement and collection process for property maintenance violations.

The board discussed and approved several sponsorship requests, including funding for the PSJ Lions Club and the Angels of Love summer youth program. Additionally, the board approved a small business grant for an 85 Taco Lounge. An executive session was held to deliberate on legal, economic development, and personnel matters, which resulted in the board authorizing the executive director to proceed with various projects (Project O, Project Grub, and Project 5D) after reconvening.

The commission meeting included the presentation of scholarship recipients for the San Juan Police Athletic League and the Parks and Recreation Department. Additionally, department reports were provided. A public hearing was held for the first reading of an ordinance amending utility water conservation and drought contingency plans. The commission also considered a conditional use permit for the sale of alcohol at a convenience store and discussed a rezoning request to change property from light industrial to single-family residence district for residential development purposes.
