Bledsoe County Commission Regular Session
The Bledsoe County Commission conducted several items of business, including the approval of a budget amendment. The commission authorized the County Mayor to sign a deed for the State of Tennessee's option to purchase property for the new TCAT on Highway 127, with a reversion clause if construction does not commence within three years. The Audit Committee Report was accepted, and authority was granted to surplus old chairs from the Chancery Courtroom. The commission accepted the Sourcewell Cooperative Program Participation Agreement Resolution and all quarterly department reports. Two agenda items regarding traffic control (a 4-way stop at Old Highway 28 and Lowes Gap, and reducing speed limits on Big Ridge Road and Swafford Road) were tabled pending review by the Highway Committee. A motion passed to sell the old Bledsoe County Jail via sealed bids with a reserve price of $300,000.00. Additionally, Matthew Colvard was appointed to the Industrial Development Board to complete the term of the late Wayne Griffith, and approval was granted for the Brayton VFD to purchase property in the Hendon Community for expansion using COVID Grant Funding.
