The committee discussed planning for the Early Childhood Fair, including outreach efforts to various organizations. They reviewed an update on Local Needs Assessment training and data collection strategies. Parent Ambassadors reported on their recent early childhood programming, craft activities, and research into inclusive playground equipment. Community updates were provided regarding upcoming local charitable events, including a 5k run and a feminine product drive, as well as library youth programming and the Summer Fun Bus Outreach initiative.

The Council conducted public hearings regarding proposed amendments to ordinances for farm tax abatements and ambulance-type motor vehicle exemptions. Discussions included public input on housing code enforcement and school facility projects. Actions taken included the approval of capital improvement program adjustments, the appointment of an auditing firm, and the approval of amendments to the ambulance vehicle exemption ordinance. Additionally, the Council appointed legal counsel for land use and code enforcement matters, authorized a fund transfer for a new gate attendant and office building for the Mansfield Resources Recovery Authority, and approved a capital appropriation for site preparation at the new animal control facility. The Planning and Development Department provided an operational overview and project updates.

The Council discussed several key business items, including the revision of the Sustainability Committee charge and authorization for the Town Manager to apply for a CT DOT Section 5310 Program grant for a handicapped-accessible van. A presentation was provided by the Parks and Recreation Department regarding operations and projects. The Council also approved a lease agreement with Regional School District #19 for the Vinton School building and authorized a USDOT BUILD grant application for intersection and pedestrian safety improvements. Additionally, public hearings were scheduled regarding proposed amendments to local tax abatement and motor vehicle exemption ordinances.

The board discussed a proposal to transition the Assistant Director position to a new Property Manager role. The board reviewed the updated job description and concluded that the change would better address tenant needs and support organizational growth. The proposal for the new position, title, and job description was approved.
