The Commission conducted both a planning and a zoning meeting. The planning portion included the approval of an administrative subdivision request to divide lots on West 26th Avenue and North Jackson Street, and the nomination of officers. The zoning portion included the approval of a zoning change request for property on East Rutland Street from community business district to institutional, to facilitate classroom use. The Commission also discussed a proposed text change to the comprehensive zoning ordinance concerning bed and breakfast establishments and restaurant conditional uses in commercial office professional districts.
The board discussed a variance request for a property at 910 South Jankee Avenue to reduce the required rear yard setback from 35 feet to 18 feet for a master suite addition intended to facilitate aging in place. Board members expressed concerns regarding the lack of a demonstrable hardship and the potential for establishing a precedent, ultimately voting to table the request until a future meeting while suggesting the applicant revise the plans to potentially reduce the scale of the addition. Additionally, the board initiated a discussion regarding a request to subdivide multiple lots located at 410, 406, and 402 West 26th Avenue and 613 North Jackson Street.
