Clinton College Beacon Forum
The session featured remarks from the Campus Minister and a moment of prayer addressing challenges such as approaching exams and the difficult time presented by the pandemic, offering blessings to students, staff, faculty, and administration. A significant portion of the forum involved reading and discussing the poem "The Climber" by Dr. Kimberly P. Johnson, which focuses on visualizing success, overcoming obstacles symbolized as dragons (such as worry, doubt, and fear), and the importance of helping others in one's journey. Dr. Johnson also shared her inspiration for the poem, which stemmed from observing capable people lacking confidence. Announcements were made regarding upcoming final exams, the need for students to complete fall registration by contacting Dr. McLamb, and directing financial aid questions to Miss White. Encouragement was given to maintain focus on the 'prize' despite external pressures like time management, family dynamics, and current world events.
