The City Council declared April as "Autism Awareness Month" in the City of Hialeah and adopted the motto "Light it up Blue" to encourage participation in the city campaign by illuminating the city in blue throughout April. The resolution recognizes the need for greater understanding and inclusion of individuals with autism, and commits to coordinating and sponsoring charitable programs to enhance public understanding and encourage interaction between the community and those with autism.

The meeting included discussions and decisions on several zoning-related items. These included rezoning a property from R-1 to R-3-3 for a mixed-use development, variance permits for constructing single-family homes on substandard lots, and a conditional use permit for expanding an Assisted Living Facility.
