The Commission received reports from the Parks and Recreation Manager and the Parks and Open Space Division regarding current capital improvement projects, activities, and department events. Additionally, the Commission reviewed and supported a new display and exhibit policy for the Goleta Community Center and voted to cancel the scheduled July meeting due to a lack of actionable business.

The commission reviewed reports from the Parks and Recreation Manager, the Parks and Open Space Manager, and the Director of Neighborhood Services. A staff presentation was provided on the status of the Stow Grove Park Phase One project. Additionally, the commission discussed the feasibility of long-term projects for the Fiscal Year 2026-27, specifically regarding a proposal for a bike pump track, and resolved that staff would coordinate further with the local bicycle club and City Administration on the matter.

The City Council meeting included a closed session regarding labor negotiations, followed by a regular session. Key agenda items included the acceptance of the February 2026 investment transaction report and the Single Audit Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The Council approved a construction management and inspection contract for the Cathedral Oaks Road and Crib Wall Project, authorized the purchase of universal playground equipment for Stow Grove Park, and approved advertising for bids for residential resurfacing and arterial pavement projects. Additionally, the Council adopted policies and procedures for the Goleta Train Station and issued a proclamation declaring April 2026 as Earth Month.

The Planning Commission conducted a selection process for the 2026 Chair and Vice Chair roles. The commission also adopted a resolution determining that the vacation of an existing underground easement and the acceptance of a new underground easement through Stow Grove Park is in conformance with the General Plan and Coastal Land Use Plan, finding that no further environmental review is required. Additionally, the Planning and Environmental Review Director provided updates on upcoming community events.
