The Burnt River School District's Integrated Pest Management Plan is a proactive strategy designed for long-term, environmentally sound pest suppression, prioritizing the health and safety of students and staff. It focuses on preventing pest problems by eliminating conducive conditions and incorporating a range of measures, including sanitation, structural remediation, habitat manipulation, and mechanical controls. Pesticide use is minimized and only low-impact options are considered, primarily when non-chemical methods are ineffective, with non-low-impact pesticides reserved for declared emergencies. The plan also emphasizes regular monitoring, inspections, and staff education to maintain a productive learning environment and protect ecosystem health.
The meeting included reports from the Deputy Clerk and Superintendent. Key action items included hiring two pre-school aides, approval of the 2026-2027 school calendar, adoption of a supplemental budget for the pre-school program via Resolution 26-02, and a decision regarding the 2026-2027 dormitories. Additionally, the board discussed future planning needs for the 2026/2027 academic year, the upcoming superintendent evaluation, and reviewed various policy updates.
The board reviewed financial reports including property tax collections, audit progress, and the status of school funds. The Superintendent provided updates on student enrollment, attendance trends, staff performance, completed facility projects, and ongoing extracurricular activities. The board approved the hiring of students for work over the holiday break and adopted a new preschool plan that incorporates the program into the school's general fund, which includes authorizing the job postings for one lead teacher and one assistant teacher.
