The meeting focused on deliberation time for PACHA members to reflect on information heard and move forward with reporting out key takeaways. The Stigma and Disparities subcommittee outlined three priorities: defining stigma disruption by focusing on systems and policies that perpetuate disparities, identifying federal agency implementation of previous recommendations, and seeking adoption of a new pillar focused on addressing stigma. The PrEP and PrEP subcommittee detailed priorities around addressing disparities in PrEP access, including launching a PrEP awareness day before World AIDS Day and incorporating lessons learned from meetings with community partners and hiv.gov. The HIV Criminalization and Discrimination subcommittee reported on broadening the scope of criminalization beyond intercourse to include activities like chest feeding and sex work, and focusing on discrimination in housing and employment, while also reevaluating data protection goals based on new information. The HIV and Aging and Long-term and Lifetime Survivors subcommittee is working on three short-term goals: developing a resolution recommending an audit of state aging plans concerning people living with HIV, crafting a resolution urging the adaptation of the SHIP program for Medicare transition support for people living with HIV, and advocating for including older adults living with HIV as a population of greatest social need during the Older Americans Act reauthorization.
