Concord's Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan aims to reduce the community's vulnerability to natural disasters and enhance resilience. The Dorton Park Master Plan outlines proposed improvements and facilities for Dorton Park. The plan details the development of multi-purpose sport fields, green spaces, and various playground options. It includes provisions for new restrooms, maintenance facilities, stormwater management, and extensive greenway and trail connections, such as future connections to the YMCA and Poplar Crossing. Additionally, the plan proposes enhancements like a potential disc golf extension and new entry drives to improve accessibility and recreational opportunities within the park.

This guidebook aims to introduce local officials and citizens to understanding natural resources in floodplains and offers suggestions for creating strategies for wisely managing these important areas. It explains how natural floodplain systems function, the impact of human activities, and provides a six-step planning process for resource protection and restoration, including inventory, problem assessment, action plan development, and monitoring. The guide emphasizes community action to reduce flood losses, protect critical natural and cultural resources, and enhance the quality of life by adapting to natural phenomena rather than controlling floodwaters, promoting multi-objective management for long-term community vitality.
