Summary
The major elements of work include, but are not limited to, the following: installation of new sanitary and stormwater piping systems through the main building, east and west wings in accordance with construction documents. Rerouting stormwater and sanitary piping where possible to avoid passage through the ceiling of exhibit halls, collection storage areas, and other sensitive or restricted spaces. Capping off abandoned piping, where feasible, isolating it from active systems and preventing future infiltration or structural compromise. Removal and disposal of old piping where capping is not feasible, in compliance with environmental regulations and structural safety standards. Lead and asbestos abatement, as necessary, in areas affected by demolition or pipe removal, in accordance with applicable epa, osha, dot, district of columbia law and regulations and others as cited in the specification. Installation of new sanitary and storm piping within the existing tunnel system, including structural support, penetrations, and insulation where required. Tie-in of new systems to the existing si stormwater and sanitary infrastructure external to the building, with proper alignment, connection materials, and testing. Develop and implement a comprehensive erosion and sediment control plan in compliance with epa construction general permit and district of columbia regulations. Inspect, remove and replace roof scuppers including sealing and integration with the building stormwater management system to restore proper drainage performance.
