Summary
Involves the reconstruction and relocation of critical electrical infrastructure between the portage substation and the whittier tunnel. Includes the rebuild of existing overhead and underground electrical facilities on the Portage side of the tunnel. All existing overhead structures and 4/0 ACSR conductors from Pole P1A (located just outside the Portage Substation) to Poles P53A and P53B will be removed and replaced with new double-circuit overhead structures using 336 ACSR conductors see attached design drawings for more information. In addition, the existing underground infrastructure consisting of 1/0 CONC and 350 CONC cables running from Poles P53A and P53B to PB 2575 and PB 2174 will be replaced with upgraded underground conduit and cable systems.
