Summary
The project is for the phased construction of a new campus for the Garfield Elementary School in Oakland, California to replace the existing 2-story building that currently houses classrooms, administrative offices and multi-purpose room.
Two new buildings will be situated on the east side of the site and will have a structurally-separate covered walkway between:
Building A is ~41,000 sf at the south portion of the site. The two-story portion houses 6 early childhood education classrooms, 9 standard classrooms for grades 3-5, 2 sped classrooms, a multi-purpose room, kitchen and servery. The one-story portion houses administrative offices.
Building B is ~29,775 sf at the north portion of the site. The two-story portion houses 4 early childhood education classrooms, 6 standard classrooms for grades 1-2, 2 sped classrooms, art classroom, music classroom, and the family resource center. The one-story portion houses the library.
