Summary
Work includes repair and restoration of existing multiwythe masonry walls within the fire escape towers, including tuck- pointing, brick and mortar replace- ment, installation of repair mortar in wall voids, crack repairs and other masonry rehabilitation of both load-bearing and non-load-bearing wall assemblies as required. Other structural repairs related to the door openings include tem- porary shoring and stabilization of masonry walls above the openings, concrete beam repairs with pressure epoxy injection of concrete cracks, and installation of new galvanized steel lintels above fire escape doors within the south ele- vation towers. Water infiltration repair work includes installation of a curtain grouting system utilizing a two- pass injection process consisting of hydrophobic polyurethane foam grout followed by acrylate gel grout to create a positive-side water- proofing barrier on the exterior side of the masonry wall system. Relat- ed demolition, surface preparation, and incidental work necessary to complete the repairs is included.
